Realtor’s Diary… Crack & Peek

“Urban Development”

Captured by Cricket, Shafik navigates his way through the concrete jungle narrowly ecaping greedy sellers, leaky buildings, and a psychotic gekko.

Moving cautiously among the listing agents he and Cricket inspect the showrooms disguised as living quarters throughout the urban core; dodging, drooling, and dominating the scene.

They stop for water at a Starbucks.  Cricket calms Shafik while eating the ‘good’ doughnut.

The search resumes.

See U Saturday @ 11 AM at the Breadgarden,

Love,

Paper and Wood

“Paper White”

I’m paper, I’m wood,

Others say I’m not good.

I bleed & I boil

In Millenium toil.

Sambuca’s my nitro,

I don’t have a right to,

Fame, Fortune, Gain or Reward.

My mind’s going crazy,

My future is hazy,

My Love’s pierced my heart with his sword.

50 years of days being a good little girl,

Have led me to places where others are cruel,

Welfare to West Van, I saw the way,

To escape all oppression, and brighten each day,

It worked for awhile,

then life wore me down,

and the man that I love

changed his smile

to a frown.

I’ve let my hair down,

I want to be me,

excited and wanton

and explicitly free,

Mysterious nights, Sirocco days,

Love in my heart,

my thighs, and my ways.

I’m going to control me,

I’m going to be thin,

let others in

To my world carved from life.

Coffee Alert…. Alert… Alert…

June 10th, 1999.

3:55 p.m.

I followed the path through the backyard to the solarium, and before unlocking the door I spotted a white mug with a spoon in it sitting beside a crumpled paper towel.  I now knew that Max had been home and found this to be a welcoming sight.  Good, I thought, he made himself some coffee and it looked as though he finally found a little time to sit down and relax in the “glass garden.”

I picked up the mug and the first thing I noticed was how DARK the remainder of the coffee was and how straight the spoon was standing.  Hmmm… I guess he wanted a strong cup of coffee.  By the look of the dark oily substance inside the mug this was as close to liquid coffee bean as I had seen.

Having set the mug down on the kitchen counter, I opened the top of the coffee maker to throw away the Melitta filter.  One, to one and a half inches, of ground coffee poured into the bottom of the cone filter and combined with 4 cups of water is the capacity of our coffee maker.  Upon swinging open the top I was greeted by a filter filled almost to the brim with ground coffee at least six inches deep – enough for about eighteen cups of coffee.  No wonder there was still some inside his cup.  He has always told me I make the best coffee!  Should I or shouldn’t I tell him my little secret:  it doesn’t take a cup of coffee to make a “cup of coffee.”

Get Lippy!

What Next!

I’ve come to grips with my lips.

Last year the magazines said they were too thin.

The year before that they were too wide.

Other years the mags described them as too pouty,

too droopy, too dry, too wrinkled, too cracked,

too full, too, too, too………….. my two lips!

“Lippy” – given to back talk.  (Merriam-Webster Online)
